FOLK IN THE FIELD

What is Folk in the Field?

Folk in the Field is an outdoor fundraising folk festival that supports Shiptonthorpe village projects. After a very soggy start on one of the wettest August nights ever in 2016, Folk in the Field has gone from strength to strength and attracts great local acts and bigger crowds every year. We're very grateful for your support and look forward to welcoming you to our fabulous village on 24th June.

How much does Folk in the Field cost?

£15 for over 18s and £5 for  under 18's.

How do you get tickets for Folk in the Field?

Click on any of the pink buttons throughout the website to buy tickets online (booking fee applies) or pop into Langlands Shiptonthorpe or the Paper Shop or Post Office in Market Weighton to buy tickets.

Can you buy tickets for Folk in the Field on the gate?

As long as we have not sold our ticket allocation beforehand, we'll be selling tickets on the gate. We will post on our social media channels and on our blog if we have sold out ahead of the festival.

What do we need to bring to Folk in the Field?

Folk in the Field is an outdoor night time festival and although there is plenty of cover thanks to our lovely new marquee (thanks, Tesco Market Weighton!), it can get chilly as the sun goes down. We suggest that you bring some warm clothing, or a blanket to wrap round you, and that you bring a chair as our straw bale seating is limited...and don't forget your dancing shoes!

What don't we need to bring to Folk in the Field?

We have a wide range of food and drink available, including vegetarian and gluten free options.  As this is a fund raising festival for village projects, we'd be really grateful if you could support our stall holders instead of bringing your own food and drink.

Is there anywhere to stay overnight?

We are very lucky to have both a camping and caravanning site and two B&Bs in the village. Please call Nathan Calvert on 07801 809640 to enquire about camping and caravanning and visit  Robeanne House for information about the B&Bs.

You will be directed by our fabulous parking crew to our car park at the top of the festival field. There is no charge for parking, but it you would like to make a donation towards village projects, there will be collecting buckets in the car park and your donation will be gratefully received.

How did Folk and Fete in the Field start?

Folk in the Field was established in 2016 by a group of community volunteers with the same aim in mind, to successfully organise an annual traditional fete followed by an outdoor music festival for the benefit of people in the surrounding towns and villages of East Yorkshire and beyond. Our aim is to raise enough money to be self sufficient and be able to continue with this event every year whilst making monetary contributions to worthy community projects, such as the village hall, the church, and the playing fields.

What projects does Folk in the Field support?

Since we started in 2016, we have raised funds for the Heritage Project that published the book  Shiptonthorpe: A History of an East Riding Village, the church, the village hall, the playing fields and Shiptonthorpe Junior FC.
